Before you begin
It is normal to have questions before arranging therapy. These FAQs cover practical details and some of the concerns people often have before booking an assessment or a shorter pre-assessment conversation.
Relationship and psychosexual therapy can help with difficulties such as problems with communication, ongoing conflict, sexual dissatisfaction, pain during sex, the impact of illness or addiction on relationships, or the effects of past experiences such as sexual abuse.
If you feel hesitant before booking an initial consultation or assessment, we can arrange a brief 20-minute phone or video call to help you decide whether working together feels right for you.
It is also an opportunity to ask questions and see whether working together feels right for you.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, you should contact your local mental health crisis team or call 999 for urgent advice, particularly if you feel that your life may be at risk or you are thinking about harming yourself or others.
No. You can attend alone, with a partner, or as a couple. Individual therapy can help you better understand your feelings, needs, boundaries, sexuality, or relationship patterns.
You can bring anything related to relationships, intimacy, sex, desire, communication, emotional connection, trust, conflict, infidelity, anxiety, shame, sexual difficulties, life transitions, or feeling disconnected from yourself or your partner, etc.
Only at a pace that feels comfortable for you. If you are experiencing a sexual difficulty, it can be helpful for me to understand what is happening, and there is always a clinical reason behind any questions I ask. You will never be pressured to discuss anything you are not comfortable sharing, graphic descriptions are not expected unless they are clinically relevant.
Sex therapy is a respectful, professional talking therapy, and you will never be asked to do anything sexual during a session.
The focus is on helping you speak openly and safely, without judgement.
This depends on your goals. Some people attend for a few focused sessions, while others prefer longer-term support.
We can discuss your hopes and review progress together as therapy continues.
Couples Therapy & Psychosexual Assessment and ongoing therapy sessions – £140 per 50-minute session.
This rate applies whether you attend alone or with your partner.
Individual Therapy Assessment and ongoing sessions – £100 per 50-minute session.
Yes. Therapy is confidential, and your privacy is treated with care and respect. There are some legal and professional exceptions, such as concerns about serious harm, which will be explained clearly at the start of our work together.
The first session is a 50-minute assessment, which you can attend either on your own or with your partner. It gives space to talk through the difficulties you are experiencing and begin thinking together about the most appropriate way forward.
I am not currently registered with any insurance providers, so all sessions are self-funded.
If you need to cancel a session, there is no charge provided you give at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged at the full session fee.
Yes. If necessary, I can write a referral for a medical examination, such as blood tests or a physiotherapy assessment, particularly where we are discussing specific sexual difficulties that may have an organic cause.
I can also write referrals for psychiatric assessment or other specialist support where appropriate.
All referral letters are provided free of charge.
Sessions may be available online, in person, or both, depending on availability. Please get in touch to discuss what would work best for you.
In person locations: Bloomsbury map and Finchley Central map.
You can contact me by email. I will respond as soon as possible to arrange an initial conversation or first appointment.
Once we have agreed on a date and time for your session, I will send you an email confirmation together with the confidentiality agreement, service user agreement, and my bank details for payment.
For online sessions, I will also send a Zoom link. For face-to-face appointments, I will provide the location details of where we will meet.
You will also receive a Google Calendar invitation confirming your appointment.
